President's Letter - March

Spring is here and along with it are many ways to participate in UCCTU activities.  On March 19 and April 1 we have scheduled the release of trout fry at Jones Bridge  from two Trout in the Classroom programs, St. Pius X High School and St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School (elementary).  If you have ever seen the expression on the faces of students as they release the trout, you will never forget it.

April 9 is the annual clean-up of our home waters, Sweep the Hooch.  UCCTU is responsible for the Jones Bridge site (Fulton County side of the river).  This is an opportunity to spend a morning cleaning up a heavily used section of the river.  Registration is required, so please visit this web site to sign up for the Jones Bridge location:  https://chattahoochee.org/sweep-the-hooch/

This year's Rizzio Youth Clinic will be held April 23 at the Chattahoochee Nature Center.  This is a great opportunity for boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 15 to learn the fundamentals of fly fishing and conservation from experts.  We already have enough registered participants to hold the clinic this year but are hoping to reach our capacity of 36.  So please take a moment to reach out to anyone you know in this age range to discuss their potential interest in the event.  Participants will have an opportunity to do some fly fishing at the Nature Center after the clinic is over (just after lunch).  All participants will leave the event with items generously donated by our  sponsors.  For more information, please view our web site at ucctu.tu.org/upperchattahoochee/rizzio-fly-fishing-and-conservation-clinic

Hope to see you at our meeting March 22 at Ippolito's when Kevin Arculeo will discuss fishing for stripers and other species on Lake Lanier.
